As an integral member of the Family and Community Engagement Center (FACE) team, the position of family engagement coordinator supports the school building's family engagement plans and coordinates/facilitates family engagement (FACE) practices and professional learning efforts throughout the ACPS School Division.

The family engagement coordinator reports to the FACE center manager.


Education: Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, community relations/communications or related field. Master's Degree preferred.

Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver's License required.

  • Minimum of three years of experience leading and collaborating with team members and various stakeholders preferably in the field of family engagement
  • Experience with designing and implementing strategic family engagement practices, programs/events
  • Experience in cultivating strong relationships with schools, community organizations, and/or community stakeholders
  • Record of coaching, mentoring, and successful facilitation of groups through professional learning opportunities.
  • Knowledge of multiple educational technology platforms, including, but not limited to: electronic mail and calendars, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, E-Learning, and Adobe products
  • Experience working with low-income, diverse, and historically disadvantaged communities

  • Strong organizational, planning, and work plan development skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully engage and form strong relationships with diverse families.
  • Able to adjust, as needed, to flexible early morning, evening hours in addition to some weekend work schedules.
  • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to travel daily to schools and/or community sites as needed.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as the point of contact and collaboration/reflective lead between school buildings and FACE to support the development and metric review of school family engagement plans. This includes collaboration with parent liaisons and school engagement teams to design programs and activities.
  • Assess, develop and create a strategic plan to provide best practice family engagement professional learning opportunities (ex. Dual capacity framework, equity and cultural aligned practices, positive communication, and welcoming environments) for parent liaisons, building, and department staff, and aligned community site teams.
  • Coordinate and facilitate parent liaison monthly meetings and regular site visits.
  • Onboard new parent liaisons and interns.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the school-based and district-wide parent liaisons.
  • Re-imagine, reflect and research family engagement resource guides and tools to aid with the implementation of evidence-based Family Engagement systems, programs, and initiatives in schools.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining data collection, implementation, and reporting of FACE activities. (Assessments, compliance, outreach efforts, workshop participation, and surveys).
  • Assists FACE Manager to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the FACE programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
