The Food Service Associate I will serve, assist, maintain and re-supply all customer stations in the cafeteria service area including but not limited to beverages, salad bar, deli, hot line as assigned. As assigned, will maintain the dining area in neat and orderly manner including stocking condiments and service ware. Assist customers.


Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED

Specific Requirements and Preferences
At least 6 months food service experience with direct customer service. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Basic Calculations (Addition, Subtractions, Multiplication and division).
Ability to comprehend both written and verbal instructions.
Ability communicate to a diverse customer service population.

Functional Accountabilities

Customer Service
1. Greet customers appropriately and shows willingness to meet their needs.
2. Wear Employee Identification badge in a manner seen and readable by all customers.
3. Readily knows daily menu and cafeteria information to inform customers.

Organization and Stocking
1. Ability to restock service area as needed with minimum supervision.
2. Set up line with appropriate utensils.
3. Follow plan-a-gram and line up instructions.
4. Restock food and supplies neatly and safely according to department guidelines.
5. Assist with stock handling and storage as assigned.

1. Communicate to management all food quality and availability issues, equipment status, customer and staffing issues.
2. Communicate to management unresolved customer service issues within 24 hrs.
3. Complete quality control documentation, as assigned.

Food Service and Handling
1. Portion appropriate amounts of food.
2. Prepare hot beverage according to equipment directions.
3. Maintain and monitor all food item temperatures.
4. Follow established food-handling practices according to department guidelines.
5. Store and label food and supplies.

Sanitation and Safety
1. Maintain department, hospital and regulatory agency standards.
2. Clean work area according to department guidelines.
3. Complete special cleaning assignment within target time.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
5. Use chemicals appropriately , store chemicals in the appropriate manner .

1. Maintain a professional image and adhere to department uniform guidelines.
2. Regularly adhere to department work schedules.
3. Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures.
