Summary

This position is located in the Office of External Affairs, Department of the Chief Executive Officer, in Washington, DC. In this position, the incumbent will execute digital communications strategies to drive increased and more diverse recruitment of program participants. The specialist will support a specific area of recruitment, as assigned.

Responsibilities

The incumbent implements process development in alignment with scope and defined priorities for the newly established digital recruitment unit, which serves as the central hub to raise awareness, encourage diverse participation and drive conversion for opportunities to serve in and partner with AmeriCorps programs, in collaboration with the agency's programs, technology and External Affairs colleagues. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Executing agency-wide participant recruitment and awareness efforts.
  • Meeting pipeline recruitment goals for numbers and diversity of applicant pool and helps shape strategies to achieve those goals.
  • Developing content and tactics for specific geographic targets for recruitment efforts, in collaboration with other agency partners.
  • Executing recruitment needs from program staff for outreach campaigns spanning email, call center, web, and social media content.
  • Drafting recruitment messages, content, scripts for review and feedback.
  • Partnering with email specialist, social media manager and other content contributors to strategize channel communications.
  • Supporting content ideation for the to-be-hired translation services manager to develop and implement recruitment materials.
  • Developing and deploying tools to strengthen outreach pipeline to ensure we have a robust and inclusive strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the upper range of the NY-01 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-05 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: developing and implementing an array of outreach and marketing strategies promoting the mission of an organization; recruiting volunteers in support of a mission; social media marketing; partnership building and program evaluation.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.

Education

You can use education in lieu of specialized experience. Qualifying education includes 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement (S.A.A.). You must submit your transcripts if you are using education in lieu specialized experience.

S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
  • Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
  • Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of:
  • 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or
  • 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.

  • Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9.
  • Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society -- Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed below. These honor societies are listed by the Association of College Honor Societies .

  • You may also qualify based on a combination of education and experience, if applicable.
