Responsibilities

  • Manages one or more large IT program(s) to provide products and/or services.
  • Coordinates, communicates, and integrates IT projects and program activities.
  • Ensures that the work effort achieves the outcome as specified within the IT business strategies.
  • Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Conducts systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews; participate in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies.
  • Consult with customers to evaluate functional requirements; and coordinate with systems architects and developers, as needed, to provide oversight in the development of design solutions.
  • Defines project scope and objectives based on customer requirements; and develop and document requirements, capabilities, and constraints for design procedures and processes.
  • Communicates the value of lT security throughout all levels of the organization's stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with organizational managers to support organizational objectives; and identify IT security program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades.
  • Designs and develops new tools/technologies; identify functional and security related features to find opportunities for new capability development to exploit or mitigate cyberspace vulnerabilities.
  • Identifies customers' information systems requirements; analyzes information systems requirements or environment.
  • Plans, installs, configures, tests, implements, and manages the systems environment.

Qualifications

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the upper range of the NY-02 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: developing and implementing the programs necessary to align Information Technology (IT) personnel, resources, and assets, including all systems and infrastructure, to support Department-wide missions and activities (i.e. allocation plans, workforce development plans, budget forecasts, initiatives, and policies).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
