Job Details

Are you passionate about educating and equipping the next generation of thoughtful leaders and elevating the quality of political discourse on college campuses? The American Enterprise Institute seeks an Academic Programs assistant or associate to support the director of Academic Programs in executing a strategic and results-oriented plan to foster and influence conversations about public policy, free enterprise, and civil discourse at major colleges and universities across the country.

On behalf of the nation's premier Washington-based think tank, you will be responsible for communicating AEI's mission and research to students, professors, and administrators; recruiting students for, and coordinating on-campus and virtual programming through, AEI Executive Councils (AEI's on-campus student leadership program); helping plan and execute major conferences in Washington, DC and around the country; helping recruit for, coordinate, and execute an intensive, educational summer honors program in Washington, DC, as well as a weekend honors program; maintaining and navigating databases to keep track of current and former students and academic partners; marketing and promoting events on social media and other digital platforms; and assisting AEI's scholars in their engagement with colleges and universities.

Successful candidates will be detail-oriented and organized self-starters with strong interpersonal communication and writing skills; able to meet deadlines, multitask, prioritize, and manage overlapping timelines; and have a keen interest in promoting AEI's research to an academic audience.

A bachelor's degree is required. One to two years of post-collegiate work are preferred. Other preferred experiences include event-planning experience, familiarity with AEI's scholarship, a knowledge of Salesforce and Marketo, and an understanding of think tanks, student programs, and the academic community. A familiarity with current debates about economic policy is also preferred.

Qualified applicants should submit a resume, a cover letter, college transcript(s), and a 500-word writing sample with the online application.
