Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing duties while observing and complying with all environment, health and safety procedures in place at the warehouse.
  • Performs assigned inventory counts in the retail and bulk locations in the warehouse.
  • Locates, identifies and, if needed, moves pallets or individual cartons in order to access items for physical inspection.
  • Uses electronic scales and calculator to weigh and count publications and records information on count sheets
  • Inputs and updates inventory information in the appropriate warehouse system database using a personal computer

  • Working Conditions: Duties are performed in a large temperature controlled warehouse environment.
  • Working Conditions: The incumbent is exposed to low frequency noise generated by bindery equipment. The work is performed indoors, with no exposure to excessive heat or cold.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Forklift Operator's license


Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler without more than normal supervision, to be considered for this position. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Printing Plant Worker (Materials Handler). These duties require skill in:

Performing cyclical and special inventories of items stored in both the retail and bulk areas. Operating a high fork-lift truck to access bulk warehouse locations for counting. Counting and weighing of items to verify that information in GPO's inventory and sales systems are accurate. Performing work independently in accordance with established procedures and policies. Providing day-to-day assignments and checks.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.

Physical - Physical effort may require carrying, turning, twisting, bending, and stooping while performing counts and operating materials handling equipment. Moderate physical effort is required in the frequent handling of object weighing up to 40 pounds with heavier items moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Walking is required from the inventory office to various locations in the warehouse throughout the day.

Working Conditions Duties are performed in in a large temperature-controlled warehouse environment. The work requires wearing protective clothing such as hardhats and steel toed shoes.
