Job Announcement

Creates assets job plans and standard operating operation for the three shops within the pump stations. Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System for ensuring and maintaining the data integrity and generating reports. Creates and maintains a spare parts inventory computerized program system. Verifies the completeness of work orders prior to the work orders being closed out. Assists the frontline supervisor in the evaluation of equipment failures, performs conditional assessment of critical operating assets of the operating equipment, and assists in the scheduling of preventive Maintenance (PM) work activities. Ensures the accuracy of the work orders prior to being closed out and assists others in the utilization of the Computerized Maintenance Management System. Generates weekly preventive maintenance work orders and distributes to front line supervisors. Assists the pump station staff in the execution of preventive, corrective, and predicated maintenance work orders. Performs administration of various in-house construction projects and services. Develops, reviews and approved technical and service specifications. Responds to questions from perspective bidders during the bidding period. Reviews bids and recommends contract awards. Reviews and recommends actions for none-confirming work by contractors. Performs daily inspection of contractor's work progress. Reviews and approves some low-level fabrications drawings. Reviews and recommends payments of contractor's monthly pay application. Approves and conducts substantial completion of inspections. Ensures project punch list items are executed by the contractor. Prepares project close out documents and recommends final payment. Approves contractor's outage request following discussion with affected department. Informs management staff of any project impact discussed during weekly project meetings. Clarifies project scope with the Department of Procurement and Materials Management of the solicitation being requested. Under the direction of the Pump Stations Branch Chief.

Note: Holiday, weekend and overtime work may be required. Position is designated as "Essential Emergency Services Personnel". Essential employees are required to report to duty/shift no matter in what capacity Fairfax County is operating (open/closed).

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus, four years of engineering technical support work.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
A valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check, and p re-employment physical to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Extensive knowledge of the practices, methods, material and tools of the mechanical/electrical/instrumentation trades related to the maintenance of wastewater collection and conveyance system.
  • Thorough knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA), Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS) and Enterprise Asset Management systems (EAM) and Microsoft office.
  • Extensive knowledge of Asset Management.
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification from another state.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires entering climbing in and out of catch basins, manholes and other confined spaces with weight restriction of 310 pounds. Ability to lift and handle materials with manual dexterity, up to 30 pounds. Work requires pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, standing, stooping and walking. Ability to climb and work from fixed, extension and step ladders two stories in height and scaffolding up 5 stories in height. Work requires performing tasks in adverse weather conditions and in an environment in which raw waste is present. Ability to work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Ability to discern color. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing including ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Must be able to drive county vehicle to county pump stations, various job sites and administrative meetings. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
