In this position you will apply your strategic and analytical skills in collaboration with a cross-functional group of partners to attract, develop, grow, and retain high performing talent. Your focus will be on innovating our recruiting pipelines and practices in order to attract top talent, while at the same time developing diversity and inclusion training for the organization to ensure that all employees feel heard and valued.


Specific duties and assignments include:

Communicate with internal partners and Senior Leadership to gain input and build buy-in on the strategy and approach for diversity and inclusion. Celebrate successes by evaluating and reporting on the outcomes of County diversity, inclusion, and outreach efforts.

  • Partner with Recruitment and Selection and Organizational Development to develop and implement initiatives to attract, retain, and promote a diverse talent pool and to publicize Arlington as an employer of choice. Work with the County's Human Rights Office to address barriers and to develop strategies to achieve goals associated with the County's Affirmative Action Plan (AAP).

  • Collaborate with Training and Organizational Development to create a core curriculum for diversity and inclusion training, and facilitate cross cultural training, presentations, workshops, and other learning initiatives. Work directly within the community, schools and other organizations to develop local talent pipelines.
  • Analyze HR data points (recruitment, representation, retention, etc.) to guide our approach to diversity and inclusion, making strategic and actionable recommendations.

  • Execute diversity and inclusion training for cohorts and individual classes and facilitate discussions on Workplace Diversity. Expand the reach and impact of our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). Design and implement solutions to affect small and large-scale change. Partner with the Recruiting and Selections team to market current job openings to diverse talent pools.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to effectively present sensitive subject matter both orally and in writing and to collaborate across all levels of the organization on complex issues related to diversity and inclusion or similar issues. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional with strong analytical and facilitation skills to positively impact the organizational culture.

Selection Criteria
Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field; and
  • Substantial experience developing and delivering diversity and inclusion programs and business solutions that enhance diversity and inclusion efforts.

Desirable Qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants who can demonstrate one or more of the following:
  • Ability to articulate the bottom-line impact of diversity and inclusion initiatives to Senior Leaders;
  • Broad knowledge of diversity and inclusion best practices, resources and access points;
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative data;
  • Experience building partnerships with external networks and internal influencers to promote organizational goals;
  • Master's degree in a related field;
  • Bilingual/Multi-lingual.
