Job Summary:
Westat is seeking research assistants to support survey research data collection and processing operations. You would be expected to learn the protocol, processes, data collection instruments, and collected data for a variety of studies. 

Job Responsibilities:
• Support task leads with a variety of operational tasks including contacting study participants to guide them through data submission; coding and cleaning data; testing survey software; and preparing file sets and accompanying documentation for delivery to our clients. 
• Some aspects of the position involve supervision of staff working on operational tasks performed in our Rockville and Gaithersburg locations such as receipt and proper handling of survey materials, mailing of survey materials, and helpdesk support. 

Basic Qualifications: 
• A bachelor's degree, preferably in the social sciences, is required. 

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ad hoc travel between Westat's locations in the Rockville/Gaithersburg area is required. 
• Strong oral and written communications, aptitude for working with computer systems, detail orientation, a strong interest in social science research, and a highly organized approach to work. 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Excel.
• Experience with survey research projects.
