Job Details

Are you passionate about public policy and exchanging ideas with the next generation of business leaders? Do you have fundraising experience and the ability to cultivate relationships with donors? AEI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization fully funded by the generosity of individuals, foundations, and corporations that invest in our mission to bolster free enterprise, defend our nation's values, and revitalize America's leadership in the world. As the manager of the Enterprise Club, you will work closely with a talented team of fundraising professionals to cultivate relationships with young individual donors and prospects across the United States, share scholars' work with the Enterprise Club community, develop strategy, and manage projects to strengthen Enterprise Club membership and generate revenue for AEI.

About AEI:

The American Enterprise Institute, located in Washington, DC, is one of America's premier think tanks. AEI is dedicated to defending human dignity, expanding human potential, and building a freer and safer world. The work of our scholars and staff advances ideas rooted in our belief in democracy, free enterprise, American strength and global leadership, solidarity with those at the periphery of our society, and a pluralistic, entrepreneurial culture.

About the Enterprise Club:

AEI's Enterprise Club is an invitation-only group of investors in their 30s who are leaders in both the private and public sectors. Members of this growing network share AEI's nonpartisan mission and are selected based on depth of intellectual interest in policy, record of achievement, and potential for future impact.

About the Enterprise Club Manager position:

In this position, you will create and sustain relationships with donors and prospects to grow Enterprise Club membership in quality and quantity, generate major gifts for AEI, and convert members into lifelong AEI donors. You will interact with an active and enthusiastic Enterprise Club leadership board on goals such as engagement, events, and recruitment. Managing and executing critical projects such as email communications, large mailings, database management, and executive reports are part of overseeing this program.

We are seeking an outgoing, creative, goal-oriented, highly organized individual. The ideal candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, possess strong writing skills, and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment. He or she will also be exceptionally skilled at building authentic, mutually beneficial donor relationships.

Qualifications:
  • Five years of professional experience. Fundraising or development experience is preferred. Sales, client/account management, and relationship management experience is a plus.
  • Interest in public policy and a commitment to AEI's mission.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and build a large number of close donor relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20 percent of the time.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Company

AEI pursues these unchanging ideals through independent thinking, open debate, reasoned argument, facts and the highest standards of research and exposition. Without regard for politics or prevailing fashion, we dedicate our work to a more prosperous, safer and more democratic nation and world.
