Full Time
The Sr. Video Engineer for Telehealth Services and Videoconferencing supports and manages the development, implementation, and administration of all technical operations, systems, and infrastructure for Telehealth and enterprise videoconferencing network. The Video Engineer researches, designs, implements, maintains and improves video networks and web-based tools in support of clinical, education, and administrative initiatives. Excels at working with subject-matter experts to gather information, identifies relevant data and audiences, and writes documents that are clear and user friendly. Develops and enforces operating protocol and standards to ensure an effective, expandable network that links Children's National Hospital campus with remote regional, national and international locations.

11 am to 7pm Monday to Friday


Minimum Education

Associates degree in CS, Information System related fields - required

Bachelor's degree - preferred

Specific Requirements and Preferences
College level coursework and/or certification in computer science, videoconferencing, or video editing (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
5 years - related and progressive technical/computer troubleshooting, internet technologies, real time point to point communications and preferably multi-cast communications. (Required)

5 years -experience in writing and editing technical documents, user manuals including reference guides, operational workflows and customer-facing knowledge base, white papers, annual reports, presentations, tutorials, and Web content (Required)

Certifications -

Tandberg certification - required

Network+ and Security + certification - required

Certification in Computer Science, Video Conferencing or Video Editing - required

Strong understanding of video network operations.

Functional Accountabilities

Network Development
2. Ensure quality of telehealth/video network operations throughout the institution.
3. Serve as technical point of contact and liaison with external vendors, review vendor products and facilitate vendor interviews, presentations; evaluate, select and manage procurement of appropriate equipment, carriers and services.
4. Participate in the development of telehealth/videoconferencing technical policies and procedures; develop and verify the technical plan for telehealth proposals in conjunction with the project sponsors.
5. Implement strategic plan through management of day-to-day operations of department/service area; troubleshoot operational issues and develop action plans to resolve.
6. Provide planning, direction, leadership and advanced technical expertise in the establishment and operation of complex computer and network telehealth services.
7. Provide technical guidance and leadership to CNMC staff and other partners; clearly communicate with end-users.

Network Management
1. Develop project plans in conjunction with CNMC staff, and project partners; manage project timelines to ensure quality and to maximize efficiency of technical operations.
e. Maintain trouble-tickets, preventive maintenance, and end-user training and support.
f. Manage multiple priorities while identifying and escalating risks.
8. Manage all vendor implementation timelines and ensure installation, testing and execution of stated deliverables.
d. Ensure compatibility, efficiency and integration of video network/telecommunication system hardware, software and network system requirements.
8. Lead, facilitate and/or participate actively on assigned project teams; facilitate follow through on all action items.

Network Application & Evaluation
1. Assist in the development, evaluation and implementation of new technologies, services and partnerships.
d. Maintain knowledge of current technology developments and emerging trends in IP video conference components, including endpoints, Multipoint Control units, and store-and-forward technologies.
f. Demonstrate proficiency in networking, engineering and videoconferencing in a multi-campus environment and coordinate wired/wireless equipment, routing, testing, modification of complex systems with the hospital network infrastructure group.
7. Work with all areas of the hospital and appropriate supervisors to ensure that team provide excellent customer service.
d. Provide leadership in telemedicine/video network security and encryption.
c. Respond to system outages by performing troubleshooting and diagnostics of systems, and collaborate with local technicians and third-party vendors.
