The Ridge School is a special education day school for students in grades 6 through 12 with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and other behavioral health impairments. We provide educational, clinical, and behavioral services to students. We are seeking a Teacher's Aide who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As the teacher's Aide, you will:
•Help the assigned student move successfully through each school day in the classroom, during unstructured times, and in clinical settings
•Be responsible for timely and effective communication with all team members, parents, and all those who attend IEP team meetings
•Provide individual instruction to the assigned child with the goal of increasing the child's level of independence
•Assist the teacher in the development and preparation of materials to be used with the child
•Assist the teacher and the interdisciplinary team in the formulation and implementation of psycho-therapeutic and behavior management strategies for the child in the program
•Assist the teacher in the development of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Plan for assigned child
•Assist the child during group activities
•Be available to any crisis that may occur in and out of the classroom
•Read the reports and IEPs of children in the class
•Prepare and cleans up the classroom as per the demands of the curricular task and needs of the children in the program

Qualifications:

•Bachelor degree preferred or minimum 2 years' experience in related field
•Minimum of 1 year work experience with special needs children (i.e., camp counselor, child care work, college practicum experiences)
•Knowledge and understanding of behavior management systems
•Experience managing students in crisis situations
•Excellent verbal de-escalation skills
•Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and students
•High ability to manage stress without negatively impacting job performance
•Highly dependable in terms of work attendance and assigned work hours
