Business Unit Description
Summary

Reporting to the Chief Diversity Officer for AARP, the VP of Age Inclusion is responsible for providing organization-wide leadership in planning and execution of AARP's Age Inclusion strategy. This role ensures alignment with and advancement of AARP's overall vision and mission and the integration of AARP's strategic and operational plans, while overseeing the delivery of accomplishments of the Age Inclusion strategies and tactics per the plan.
Responsibilities
  • Develops enterprise-wide strategic direction and relevant diversity related elements in operational plans and in the aggregate to optimize the enterprise's focus on Age Inclusion.
  • Develops and tracks the performance metrics for critical Age Inclusion goals.
  • Ensures the Age Inclusion strategy is embedded in cross-Association strategies and tactics, including but not limited to Organizational Development and Integration, Brand, AAP Services Inc, Membership, Foundation, and Social Impact.
  • Convenes cross-Association working groups to plan, review progress, identify issues and ensure coordinated work.
  • Works with appropriate functional units to maximize internal and external resources to leverage AARP involvement and connection with the issue of age inclusion.
  • Serves as the lead for teams charged with executing Age Inclusion strategies and tactics.
Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field.

Preferred Education: MBA, MBA/Marketing, MA or any related advanced degree.

Technical Competencies for this position:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability of age discrimination and age inclusion
  • Demonstrated experience with diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing wide-scale DEI strategies and relevant goals
  • Experience in the successful management of complex institution-wide initiatives and community and corporate partnerships related to diversity and inclusion excellence
  • Proven experience in advising senior managers on business matters relating to new market development for age inclusion market segments
  • Demonstrated planning, analytical, and coordination skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and compile information and formulate strategies and tactics

Work Experience: 10 - 15 years of related experience in private sector or non-profit organization.
