DevOps Network Engineer

Capital One Network Services has an opening for a DevOps Network Engineer in our Edge Network Organization. As a DevOps Network Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and ensuring that Capital One best practices and methodologies are applied to the design, deployment and operations of SD-WAN, SD-ACCESS and edge network projects. In addition to Cisco IOS experience, you must possess strong to advanced knowledge of routing and switching, carrier services, data center services, and network automation. Candidate will primarily act in a DevOps role for the enterprise data network platforms with full product ownership. You will be responsible to provide technical guidance and leadership to partner teams to drive solutions. You will be the technical point of contact for the customer and provide design, migration and deployment guidance. Your operations activities include troubleshooting performance issues and performing break-fix network changes. You should have experience with and a strong knowledge of Incident, Problem and Change management processes. You will drive technical resolution of High-Severity & Low Severity Incidents. You will provide direct support of Problem Management process, including Post-Mortem participation and presentations. You will help govern device remediation and Operational Resiliency activities.

Responsibilities
  • Create Low Level Design, High Level Design, Implementation Plan, and Acceptance Test Plan documents in accordance with Capital One standards.
  • Create, update and publish Capital One standards to ensure network meets business and compliance needs
  • Perform installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Capital One managed hardware, software and peripheral devices.
  • Oversee and perform new and existing equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Provide Technical leadership and guidance to junior personnel.
  • Manage and Govern relationships with technology vendors utilized in the enterprise network.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental and enterprise security configuration standards.
  • Provide direct support of audit and ad hoc consulting engagements
  • Assess vulnerabilities, identify and implement mitigation plans
  • Design, deploy and support Edge Networks utilizing industry best practices Cisco IOS, Cisco Nexus and Versa SD-WAN platforms.
  • Contribute to the development and performance of a migration plan from traditional branch and campus designs to SD-WAN and SD-ACCESS
  • Own platform life-cycle management
  • Ongoing, on the job training.
  • Operations Tier 3 escalation resource for incident resolution

  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team that is geographically dispersed, as well as work independently as required.
  • Experience with Linux
  • Familiarity utilizing REST APIs on network devices and management platforms
  • Proficient Python programming skills with object-oriented design principles desired.


This position is a DevOps role. As such, periodic late night maintenance work and participation in an on-call rotation will be required.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an enterprise network.
  • At least 3 years of technical experience in Routing and Switching implementations.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • CCNA, CCNP and or CCIE Datacenter Routing and Switching certification.
  • 1+ year of SD-WAN experience.
  • 1+ year of SD-ACCESS experience.
  • 1+ year of programming or scripting experience related to networking utilizing Python or Ansible.
  • 1+ year of Lantronix Out of Band experience
  • 3+ years of experience in BGP, OSPF, vPC, VXLAN, and ECMP.
  • 3+ years of experience configuring and managing Cisco Catalyst Switches and Cisco ASR and ISR Routers in an enterprise-class network.
  • 5+ years of experience in all technical aspects of Routing and Switching implementations.
