The psychology technician provides assistance for clinical and research tasks across the division. The technician may assist licensed neuropsychologists with testing for either clinical or research purposes. The technician also performs data entry for clinical and research registries. The technician also assists various teams with research studies by assisting with data entry, monitoring the quality of neuropsychological test data in registries and databases, and assisting with clerical tasks associated with research projects. The psychology technician may also assist in maintaining regulatory documents per sponsor and institutional requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Psychology from a regionally accredited college or university. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Familiarity and training with assessment of children
At least basic familiarity with neuropsychological assessment tools

Functional Accountabilities
Performs neuropsychological testing for clinical and research appointments.

  • Prepare test materials and room for testing prior to clinical or research appointment.


  • Perform clinical or research neuropsychological testing batteries under supervision of licensed staff neuropsychologist.
  • Score tests and record scores on Test Summary form.
  • For research patients, prepare a brief research report for families under the supervision of the staff neuropsychologist

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of testing materials.

Data Entry and Management

  • Completes clinical or research data entry in a timely fashion with good accuracy


  • Monitors the content of databases and creates an error report for study and/or clinical staff
  • With multisite registries, assists the senior staff in communicating with member institutions to gather and provide information needed to maintain fidelity of the data and data collection
  • Assists in correcting errors found in clinical and research databases or registries
  • Ensures secure storage of digital and/or physical study documents

Responsible Conduct of Research

  • Demonstrates consistent adherence to the standards for responsible conduct of research


  • Stays informed of and adheres to institutional policies, and federal regulations (e.g. Titles 21 and 45 of the Code of Federal Regulations) and guidance (International Counsel on Harmonization) regarding human subjects' research and use of protected health information.
  • Maintains knowledge and comprehension of assigned research protocols; including study procedures, timelines and eligibility.
  • Complies with and maintains current documentation of all job-related training and conflict of interest reporting
  • Reports good faith suspicions of research noncompliance and/or research misconduct to the appropriate institutional compliance office(s)

  • Along with the supervising staff neuropsychologists, communicate test results and recommendations to the child's family and referring physician.
  • Perform follow-up communications with family, when appropriate.
