Senior HR Operations & Compensation/Pay Specialist

Overview

The Office of Human Resources develops and administers a comprehensive, strategic human resources program, including recruitment/hiring, compensation, benefits, labor relations, employee relations, employee and management training and development, HR policy development and implementation, organizational development to ensure that the university attracts, develops, and retains employees with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to contribute to the achievement of the goals of the university.

The Senior HR Operations & Compensation Specialist will play a key role in the HR Business Operations team initiatives and responsibilities, including developing and administering the Catholic University of America’s compensation design and pay implementation program. The Senior HR Operations & Compensation Specialist will also support HR system efforts from a functional perspective, and other HR Business Operations team needs. This position will be focused on configuring our PeopleSoft implementation in support of running payroll.

Responsibilities

Participate in the development and administration of the university's compensation program, to include:

• Implementation of new policies and procedures.

• Conduct position audits, analyzes and evaluates jobs, and recommends action concerning appropriate classification and pay level.

• Assist in the creation and maintenance of a standardized job catalog.

• Perform formal and ad hoc market trend analyses.

• Ensure that requests for pay adjustments comply with compensation policy and philosophy.

• Formulate recommendations regarding development and updating of salary structures, FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures.

• Assist managers in interpreting wage and salary policies and procedures

• May participate in compensation surveys as applicable.

Participates in review and approval of requisitions during the hiring process of staff and temporary employees, as well as student employee assignments (i.e. Hires, terminations, pay rate changes). Supports and participates in the implementation/upgrading of new HR technology as functional expert, and assists in data clean-up efforts. Provides support in preparing data, presentations, materials for department or leadership as requested. Runs adhoc reports in order to respond to data requests, as needed. Actively participates in the HR Business Operations team role for payroll processing. Includes hands on support for needed data entry, resolution of issues, auditing data and tracking outstanding items, in order to facilitate a successful payroll process.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree and 4-7 years professional experience in a related HR role is required. Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Proficient knowledge of and ability to use HRIS is required. PeopleSoft experience is a plus.

SHRM-CP or SCP, or PHR certification preferred. Master's Degree desirable.

Must have excellent written/oral communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with employees throughout all levels of the organization. Ability to maintain confidential matters in a highly professional manner. Must be a team player. Ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. Must be familiar with applicable state and federal laws as well as compensation concepts, practices and procedures.
