Job Summary:
Westat is seeking an Accessibility Assistant to support development and maintenance of accessibility resources and materials, including training documents and checklists.  Support includes providing information to staff regarding Federal Section 508 standards and accessibility guidelines. The successful candidate will be able to learn and understand new technologies quickly, for example updating front-end HTML pages.  

Job Responsibilities:
•    Write audio/video descriptions, write alternative text for complex charts, equations, and images, and create table summaries for digital products, including social media.
•    Work with 508 Coordinator and other staff to develop resources, training materials, and presentations.
•    Monitor multiple corporate mailboxes and take action as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
•    A Bachelor's degree is required. 
•    Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    1-3 years copy editing, proof-reading or technical writing experience. 
•    Video captioning experience.
•    Working knowledge of Adobe products (InDesign, Illustrator, Captivate, PDF) a plus.
•    Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite including coding 508-compliant HTML (Acrobat DC, Dreamweaver) a plus.
•    Familiarity with WCAG 2.0 success criteria and web accessibility requirements a plus.
•    Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and manage task needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Be available for full-time work (8:30am to 5pm, M-F) in our offices.
•    Have the ability to travel to and between Westat offices in the local area.  
•    The candidate must be detail oriented, self-motivated, a proactive communicator, and able to organize and present complex information in a clear, concise manner.
