COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLANNER  

The City of College Park, MD is seeking a full-time urban planner to perform a variety of municipal planning and community development functions.  Position involves preparing grant applications to local, state and federal agencies, grant administration, project management and coordination, working with community stakeholders, serving as a liaison and support staff to City boards and s and committees, participating in areawide planning studies and projects, and making presentations to the City Council.  Candidates must have knowledge of neighborhood planning practices, sustainability issues and solutions, grant writing and administration; good analytical and interpersonal skills; excellent writing and speaking skills; and must be able to work cooperatively and effectively with other  departments, disciplines and jurisdictions.  Must be able to attend and coordinate frequent evening meetings virtually or in person.

A bachelor’s degree in urban/community planning or closely related field and minimum of two years of related professional experience are required.   A master’s degree and/or AICP is strongly preferred.   Minimum starting salary is $59,538 DOQ with an excellent benefits package.  Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest, a resume, and complete an application at www.collegeparkmd.gov.
