Visit our University blog at : The successful candidate will be charged with leading teams of student accounting and financial aid staff to efficiently and effectively provide operational solutions that support student success. The Manager is responsible for the overall supervision of student account offices and accountable for the planning, organizing, reviewing, awarding and administering of all financial aid activities at the assigned campuses. This includes monitoring all facets of the financial programs to ensure that compliance and accurate interpretation of complex federal, state, institutional regulations and policies are followed in addition to managing business office processing at assigned campuses. The Manager, Student Financial Services is additionally responsible for all personnel decisions within the assigned campuses, including selection, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and terminating as required. The Manager works closely with the Corporate Manager Student Accounts and Collections, the Campus Dean, the CFO, the Registrar, and Directors of Admissions in the delivery of campus-wide student financial aid programs and initiatives. Functions: Essential Job Functions: Select, train , supervise and evaluate staff assigned to the student account office across multiple campuses and charged with administering institutional scholarships, grants, student employment, student billing, cashier and financial aid counselling.Conduct timely review of files rejected by quality assurance team with SAO, ensuring SAO has the requisite training and knowledge to overcome reject and increase quality of future submissions.Daily monitoring of financial aid inventory at campus and implementation of appropriate strategies towards ensuring timely payment of financial aid.Coach student accounts staff in guiding students and families through all stages of enrollment via interpersonal counseling, publications, workshops and correspondence with a keen eye towards exceptional service. Act as arbiter in exceptional cases.Ensure a high level of customer service through ongoing staff training, effective assessment and utilization of technology, process and policy development and proactive communication.Assist in ensuring regulatory compliance in all financial aid processing including federal, state and University policies and guidelines.Oversee timely review, awarding, processing of financial aid applications, award letters, need analysis and disbursements of funds at the campus level in a manner compliant to institutional goals.Work collaboratively with the enrollment team and student accounts staff to maximize yield of talented applicants, meet enrollment and retention goals set by the University by providing support to recruitment and retention strategies through the financial aid process.Complete R2T4 calculations and Institutional refunds following established guidelines.Coordinate the review of RTP, refunds and disposition of accounts for inactive students ensuring the campus operates within required timeframe to meet federal, state and institutional processing deadlines.Provide direct operational oversight of the various functions conducted by the student financial aid staff of assigned campuses including management of staff performance of duties, review of work being performed and work closely with staff to identify areas warranting improvements and provide opportunities for staff professional development and cross functional training.Responsible for maintaining financial aid program integrity by monitoring the maintenance of student files for compliance to established university standards and preparing said files for internal and external audits and review.Work collaboratively with corporate office to coordinate the training and cross training of campus assigned SA staff as well as collaboration on financial aid system implementation.Monitoring satisfactory academic progress, general student eligibility compliance, academic plans and SAP appeals.Provide guidance as needed to campus staff to ensure campus remain compliance to federal, state and university policies as it relates to financial aid processing and receivables management and collections.Perform review of tuition and fee collection policies including the use of holds that prevent students from enrolling in classes to ensure reasonableness of policy application and appropriate documentation of exceptions when warranted. Responsible for authorizing any exceptions to billing policies provided such exceptions are within authorized limits and appropriately documented.Coordinate the workload of assigned campuses student account office to ensure institutional financial aid goals are met including attaining targeted financial aid disbursement by end of quarter and established packaging percentages by specific target dates in the quarter.Review workflow system emails (program changes, attendance appeals, academic checkouts, any electronic documents requiring SA signature; SU scholarships and grants)Other duties as assigned Qualifications: The Skills:Strong personal accountability and attention to detail orientationHigh energy, outgoing personality and professional attitudeTruly enjoys interacting with people Knows the definition of empathy and utilizes that skill when appropriate Is intuitive and has a proactive approach to serving others Has a strong work ethic and takes ownership of his/her work Is poised, positive, outgoing and has a professional demeanor Demonstrates integrity, honesty, teamwork and genuine commitment to educationAbility to complete tasks independently with a very high quality of performanceShow strong compassion and concern, while clearly, effectively and professionally communication in person, by the phone and through email. Takes pride and be passionate about helping othersRequired Education and Experience:Must be willing to travel between multiple campuses Bachelors degree required.A minimum of 5 years financial aid experience with demonstrated knowledge of powerfaids, power campus or similar computerized financial aid systems.A minimum of 3-5 years of management experience within a higher education institution or similar professional environment. Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and presentation skills and excellent customer service, supervisory and organizational skillsExcellent ability to develop and craft a positive and productive work culture and achieve goals through management of people by maximizing their constituent strengths and providing appropriate coaching and development opportunities where needed. Demonstrate a history of crafting processes to effectively manage the workload of a financial aid office with thorough knowledge of federal, state and institutional policies and procedures.Demonstrate ability to effectively direct staff in meeting institutional goals and working collaboratively across multiple departments to effectively manage resources to meet targets and deadlines.Candidate should exhibit strong leadership qualities and managerial abilityCandidate must demonstrate both high financial and analytical acumen but also a dedication to providing excellent student services throughout the student life cycle.Work Environment and Physical Demands:Will require continuous travel between two assigned area campuses. The travel requirement for this position will be 50% of the time. Will require sitting for long periods of time, in addition to standing, kneeling, and walking through the campus on a regular basis.
