Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews (OSR). In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.

Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Management and Program Analyst, you will:

- Perform first line supervisory duties and responsibilities over OSR administrative staff and serve as Executive Assistant to the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and Deputy AIG

- Plan and assign work to be accomplished based on priorities, requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of employees

- Serve as the personal and confidential assistant and principal advisor to the AIG/DAIG on all matters associated with managing and operating OSR, and acting on behalf of these executives as needed

- Perform ongoing analyses of OSR operations, and make contributions to the development and conformance of policies

- Develop and prepare regular reports for management decision-making to provide key information on results of operations, including OSR projects and other significant events that impact the OSR, OIG, and VA

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for this position as a GS-15 you must meet the specialized experience requirements for this position with at least one (1) full year of experience at the GS-14 level, or equivalent. This experience as provided below, should have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience includes:

- Managing external and internal relationships; AND
- Planning and coordinating projects and assignments with competing demands and deadlines; AND
- Developing and interpreting policies and their administration; AND
- Drafting communications and briefing tools (e.g., speeches, talking points), individual correspondence, and responses.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
- For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
- A Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
- You must successfully complete a background investigation.
