Job description: Full-time or part time infectious disease nurse practitioner or Physician assistant for a busy Virginia based ID practice Position : Full time Hospitals covered: Reston and stone springs Hospitals of HCA system and INOVA Loudoun Hospital Essential education Experience and skills: should have active unrestricted Virginia license and active DEA license and NCCPA certification for Physician assistant or an AANP certification for nurse practitioner Outpatient infectious disease clinic: on Tuesdays 12- 4pm EHR- Meditech and EPIC system Responsibilities include but not limited to: - All consults/follow-up /prescriptions will be reviewed and will be signed off by the consulting physician - rounding at the hospitals as mentioned above - In this position you will see new patients, follow-up of existing patients and post hospitalization discharges - Perform history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problems. . Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, initial infectious disease consults, progress notes, and results of physical exam. . Administer or order diagnostic tests and interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal and determine the need for follow-up appointments and further treatment options. . Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients. . Prescribe therapy and medication with physician approval. (For example- antibiotics/antiemetics/diuretics/ topical medications/antihistamines) . Should understand basic drug interactions . Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance. . Update patient records and check records for accuracy at each patient appointment. . All documentation needs to be completed and should be ready for signature of supervising physician . No invasive procedures need to be performed . Maintain good internal and external relationships and in the performance of all duties and responsibilities . You will use advanced practice skills with supervision/collaboration of licensed physicians to provide comprehensive health care services to the patients. . Provide physical/psychological health assessments patient education and counseling orders and interpret diagnostic procedures and manage acute and chronic disease conditions ensuring continuity of care for individuals . Maintain active nurse practitioner license/DEA license . The current position will be reviewed and renewed every 6 months . Will need 1month advance notice prior to change to any new position . Medical-Liability coverage will be provided only for the patient's seen for Dr.Nutankalva,MD . Need to inform/notify if any other part-time positions are accepted in addition to the current position Job Requirements: Perform physician assistant initial assessment and care for patients Perform physician assistant initial assessment and care for cardiac patients Provide care to surgery patients and assist with patient care activities Providing care of patients during medical procedures Provide acute and chronic patient care including patient histories Provide emergency care for patients with TBI Assist physicians in providing medical care to assigned patients Providing medical care to assigned patients Complete medical histories on patients Assist physicians in patient care Provide patient care under the supervision of a physician Develop patient treatment plan within physician protocols Providing patient-focused health care Supervising physician in the treatment and plan of care of patients Assist in surgery, assist physician Governing practice scope of a physician assistant Coordinate health care with home care Provide responsible medical care within the scope of practice of physician's assistant Assessing patient health by interviewing patients Assess patient health by interviewing patients
