Under the direction of the Director, Security Services, the Security Systems and Technology Coordinator is responsible for the management and maintenance of all security system equipment, software and databases throughout the Children's Healthcare System. Manage contracted security technician personnel to ensure that the installation of and timely repair to security system equipment is in accordance with Children's National specifications, standards and expectations. Oversee the periodic testing of security system equipment and maintain appropriate documentation regarding the status of the various components of the security system. Perform small-scale installations and minor repairs of security system equipment as directed by the Director of Security. Make periodic inspections of all Children's National Health System locations where security system components are installed to perform systems evaluations and to perform preventative maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Vocational Education Vocational/Technical/Associates degree in electronics, electrical systems or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
4 years Progressive experience as a security system installation/repair technician or security systems project manager (Required)

Required Licenses and Certifications
Certification/training through a major security access control system and camera system manufacturer (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
Security Systems
  • Maintain security equipment in accordance with industry and Children's National standards.
  • Perform system tests to proactively evaluate the security system for potential issues; evaluate/investigate issues reported by end users with security equipment and determine appropriate actions to resolve.
  • Ensure that security system software is up to date and works with IT Services to ensure the proper maintenance of security databases.
  • Facilitate or perform preventive maintenance of security equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
Security Contractor and Vendor Activities
  • Oversee the activities of contracted security equipment installation personnel to ensure that installation activities are in accordance with CN standards.
  • Submit repair service requests, as appropriate, through the vendor's service request system and monitor the status of submitted repair requests for positive resolution; appropriately escalate vendor installation and repair performance issues as appropriate to resolve problems.
  • Facilitate assurance testing to validate that newly installed security equipment is functioning properly.
  • Provide security system repair-related updates to users impacted by malfunctioning security equipment.
