The George Mason University, School of Nursing invites applications for a Graduate Clinical Coordinator. About the Department: The School of Nursing is situated in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), which includes four additional academic units: Global and Community Health; Health Administration, Policy and Informatics; Nutrition and Food Studies; and Social Work. The College is home to more than 1,900 undergraduate and 1,136 graduate students and approximately 140 faculty and staff.

CHHS is transitioning to become the first College of Public Health in the State of Virginia. Research opportunities abound in our nurse-led community-based clinics, high-fidelity simulation laboratory, telehealth facilities, and the CHHS Population Health Center. Active programs of research among School and CHHS faculty include investigating cultural and environmental influences on health behaviors, opioid addiction, obesity, maternal/child/adolescent health outcomes, community interventions, vulnerable populations, racial disparities in healthcare, HIV, and acute/chronic effects of violence. CHHS is also home to the "Mason: Health Starts Here" cohort study - a first-of-its-kind, transdisciplinary longitudinal research project to understand and improve the health of university students. Our faculty aspires to contribute to the health of all populations through innovative and impactful education, research, practice, and service. The School of Nursing currently enrolls over 700 students, with robust baccalaureate and Master's programs. Our highly ranked DNP program also includes concentrations in family practice and adult gerontology primary care. About the Position: The incumbent will oversee graduate clinical placements and will lead clinical adjunct faculty and preceptors recruitment efforts for the school. The new Graduate Clinical Coordinator will provide a vision and leadership for student placements to meet the challenges presented by growing competition for student placements by other local nursing and allied health schools.

Responsibilities: * Engages with health-care agency partners to arrange required practicum placements for all existing graduate level students enrolled in the Masters, Post Masters Certification and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs, which include several advanced practice concentrations (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), as well as newly developed programs and Administration; * Assists MSN and DNP students to secure placements by identifying new preceptors, new sites, and maintaining established preceptors and sites; * Collaborates with School of Nursing Graduate Division Director and program coordinators to confirm appropriateness of student placements; * Ensures all agency competency and compliance documentation are submitted and maintained; * Works with CHHS Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives (or designee) to ensure active contracts with clinical agencies are maintained; * Makes recruitment visits to new clinics/organizations and conducts site visits to current clinical agencies to maintain Mason SoN presence, assess site characteristics, promote engagement, and expand clinical placement opportunities; * Oversees third party secure web-based document management systems, such as Castle Branch and Typhon; * Assists with tracking of clinical site activities for all graduate students each semester, including summers; * Facilitates onboarding to clinical sites for graduate students; * As needed, assists with similar tasks for undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications: * Master's degree in Nursing; * An unencumbered Virginia Registered Nurse license, or eligibility to obtain upon employment; * A minimum of two years recent clinical experience in a health care agency in the Northern Virginia area; * Geographical familiarity with the metropolitan DC and Northern Virginia areas, and familiarity with health care agencies in the region; * Knowledge of typical health and background requirements for clinical sites; * Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; * Commitment to supporting a culture of inclusion and diversity.

Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience with student placement and with inter-agency contracts; * Previous experience with clinical placements and compliance documents or equivalent; * Recent experience with software tracking tools for placements and student compliance; * Familiar with scope of practice of advanced practice nurse.
