Work that matters. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is a national leader in the financing and development of affordable housing and community development lending. As such, the primary function of the Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) is to ensure financial information is accounted for to encourage and support homeownership in Maryland. This position works within DFA as a Fund Accountant for assigned State or federal restricted funds. This position will have to read the legal Agreements which govern the funds and disseminate what are valid expenses and perform the calculations of direct and indirect cost allocations in accordance with the Agreements. Daily activity will be to reconcile the accounts, process journal entries, research issues or to resolve reconciling differences, gather and report on financial requirements of each Agreement along with other financial work. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills in order to build working relationships with program managers and other key staff within DHCD and external stakeholders.
