Senior Director, Chief of Staff- Card Channels Operations

The Card Channels Chief of Staff (CoS) will assist in managing strategic priorities and operational routines for the business. He/She/They will partner with the Card Channels leadership team, the lead Channels HRC, the Channels Communications lead, and various stakeholders across Card and Capital One to execute the Channels business strategy.

The CoS will provide thought leadership, best practices and serve as a central point of coordination for division level efforts in the following areas: business strategy, organizational routines, site visits, strategic communications, expense management, project management, and operational improvements. He/She/They will partner closely with HR to implement culture initiatives, associate engagement activities, and Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB) activities. Finally, the role will serve as the primary point of contact for teams and groups inside and outside of Channels.



Responsibilities:
  • Partner closely with Pete and the Channels Leadership Team to develop, build and manage strategic focus and priorities including new strategy group under Strauss
  • Work closely with the leadership team to clearly define and communicate the overall strategy and areas of focus
  • Build strong connections with key stakeholders across Card and enterprise to ensure alignment with overall strategic focus
  • Develop and execute an overall site visit strategy to establish communications and connections to Channels Associates
  • Act as a highly functioning change agent and leader for the organization to effectively spot the need for change and/or lead the implementation efforts.
  • Identify and track metrics to ensure achievement of priorities
  • Develop and execute Management and Governance routines
  • Act as a point of contact for various enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Manage key relationships on behalf of Pete, ex. WPS
  • Support Pete's external Board responsibilities for Capital One
  • Support our critical DIB efforts across Channels
  • Partner with HR and Communications to create and execute Associate engagement activities
  • Assist Pete in building and maintaining a strong leadership team
  • Own admin alignment across Channels
  • Lead and/or provide oversight for various special projects
  • Integrate with other CoS to maintain a community of practice



Critical Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
  • Proven ability to build strong, trusting relationships and operate in an influential manner with senior executives to assist in driving the business agenda
  • Strong judgment, influencing, leadership skills are essential
  • Role model for Capital One's Values; Operates with a high degree of integrity
  • Must possess high "EQ" and be a collaborative team player
  • Experience in previous roles with specific strategy and analytics focus
  • Action-oriented approach that is geared toward execution and delivering results
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation and mediation skills; Ability to drive to consensus
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter that can work autonomously and independently take initiative
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and bring clarity to problem solving
  • Proven experience with discretion in handling highly sensitive issues


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 7 years of Process Management experience OR at least 7 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 5 years of Communications experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in Organizational Development and Performance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience managing senior stakeholders across different business functions
  • 4+ years of experience managing technical projects
