Summary

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Senate Office Buildings, Elevator and Subway Branch. The incumbent is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and electronic adjustments of the Senate subway system.

Responsibilities

Tour of duty for this position is 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 12:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

The individual selected for this position will:

Subway System Maintenance:

Carries out complex electromotive maintenance and repair functions, including identifying and repairing electrical, mechanical and electronic problems in the control, guide, car, or platform assemblies of the subway system.

Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot operational failures, and to trace and repair electrical, electronic and mechanical problems.

Repairs or replaces parts; aligns rails; ensures continuity of electrical wires and conduits; resets safety controls; and aligns drive mechanisms.

Overhauls axle assemblies using a dial indicator, replacing wheels and bearings, tightening bolted connections and examining differentials for leaks or other malfunctions.

Performs advanced welding, machine tooling, electrical and mechanical work. Operates lathes, drill presses, grinders, electrical and acetylene welding equipment, and other power hand tools for repair, fabrications and modification of bushings, shafts, armature, bolts, and screws.

Electronic and Electrical Adjustments:

Utilizing electronic control systems to diagnose issues in various areas. Inspecting and repairing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), EPROM programming, computer and network systems, servers, voltage regulators, power supplies and limit switches. Examples include Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5 and Motion Control Engineering Products. Also responsible for monitoring and repairing Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) and Public Address systems.

Calibrates drive components and maintains all electrical and electronic circuitry.
