In this role, you will have responsibility over the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will have charge over many aspects of internal reporting. Your duties will also include participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors throughout quarterly reviews and annual audits. A very involved position, the Staff Accountant spends a good deal of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This multi-faceted, challenging short-term temporary opportunity is at a Washington, District of Columbia based company where effort is rewarded and the environment is thriving.What you get to do every single day- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed- Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation- Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments- Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision- Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management- Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules- Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable mannerJob Requirements:- Competent with spreadsheets and databases- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines- Recent and relevant accounting experience- Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement- ERP system experience- Deep understanding of bank reconciliations- Microsoft Great Plains Accounting experience- Excel Formulas experience preferred- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision- Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills- Spreadsheet and database capabilitiesAccountemps, a Robert Half Company, matches skilled accounting and finance professionals with remote or on-site jobs on a temporary and temporary-to-hire basis.
