Job Description:The Surgical Technician II ensures that the Operating Suite is adequately prepared for procedure by preparing instrumentation and equipment. Assists surgeon by passing instruments during operative and invasive procedures. Maintains sterile technique at all times. Demonstrates the ability to clean and sterilize all surgical instruments. Actively participates in all performance improvement activities and team meetings.Requirements:Must possess a high school diploma or GED.Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program.Certification Requirement:A' Certificate from Surgical Technologist Program or 1 year experience documented.Age Specific Care Provided For:A' Neo-natal, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics.Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Meditech (if applicable to position), Epic (if applicable to position) and Performance Manager/NetLearning.Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Other Requirements: Must possess skills in scrub role in Operating Room.Works in well-lighted and ventilated area(s), as well as throughout the nursing service areas.Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.Is subject to frequent interruptions.Willingly works beyond normal working hours, and weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.Attends and participates in continuing education programs.Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, disease processes, including exposure to HIV and Hepatitis B viruses.Participates in taking "on-call" to cover surgical operating room. Must be able to respond to this call and be available in OR within one hour of the call.
