Job Summary Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician in Ambulatory Perinatology. Minimum Qualifications Education/Training Certification in Diagnostic Sonography by ARDMS. required. RDMS certification for OB required. Experience 2 years general/obstetrical ultrasound clinical experience preferred. Maternal Fetal Medicine strongly preferred. License/Certification/Registration CPR certification. First Trimester Screen Certification by Fetal Medicine Foundation (including nasal bone and nuchal translucency) preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Assists and guides perinatologist in amniocentesis and chronic villi sampling procedures. Scans patient, determining angle for puncture, assists as necessary, maintains sterile technique. Provides discharge instructions. Communicates and documents patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and computerized report format. Coordinates daily sonogram schedule and monitors patient flow. Enhances growth and development and enriches personal knowledge and skill through participation in educational programs and affiliations. Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients. Performs ultrasound techniques and examinations related to obstetrical and gynecological scans. Selects and operates equipment as directed. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Performs other duties as assigned.
