Web Production Assistant, Office of Communications

The George Mason University, Office of Communications, within the College of Engineering and Computing, is looking for a highly motivated, well-organized Web Production Assistant to support its mission. About the Position: The Web Production Assistant will be a supporting member of the Office of Communications team. This position will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day maintenance and ongoing improvement of existing and planned websites for the College of Engineering and Computing. This involves an understanding of website best practices and the ability to build sites and pages with an approved Content Management System.

Responsibilities: * Implement digital initiatives, particularly web site development and operations; * Collaborate with design and IT teams to follow user-centered design and technology; * Assist with developing broad-based digital solutions based on design, content, and technical input; * Strong ability to edit, multitask, and prioritize tasks; * Exercise sound and independent judgment; * Highly organized and self-motivated; * Detail-oriented with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients and other constituencies using strong oral and written communications skills.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business or relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience working in an office environment; * Good understanding of customer service philosophies; * Excellent oral and written communication skills; * Knowledge of Drupal, WordPress or similar content management system; * At least one year of experience writing and creating content for websites and social media distribution; * At least one year of experience with Google Analytics, and search engine optimization; * Ability to work independently and as a team member; * Experience with website best practices; * Experience handling multiple simultaneous projects with short turnaround time and completing them accurately.

Preferred Qualifications: * Strong knowledge of collaboration tools (Teams, Slack, Google) and proficiency in other communication and office software; * Commitment to working with diverse student and community populations; * Experience with Photoshop or other photo editing software.
