The Commodity Supplier Quality Engineering Lead is responsible for qualifying new suppliers, developing existing suppliers, working with Sourcing to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, and driving resolution of supplier quality problems and corrective actions. In short, ensuring and improving the overall quality of supplier-manufactured material for assigned commodities and/or areas of the plant. *We will offer relocation assistance to those who qualify.** Essential Responsibilities Drive supplier selection and part qualification through supplier assessment audits and robust Supplier PPAP qualification processesOptimizing the number of Initial Samples that meet the quality requirements and specifications (First pass yield)Participate and influence in sourcing committee for introduction of new suppliers in the panelWork with Project and Engineering teams to incorporate all applicable specifications and customer requirements into Supplier PPAP processes.Work closely with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, New Product Introductions (NPIs), and transfers according to Supplier Quality Requirements / Supplier PPAPInterface with Suppliers and internal Supply Chain to implement quality improvements Manage supplier issues within Supplier Non-Conformance process and expected reactivity based on business cycle time goals.Lead containment of supplier quality escapes and root cause investigations of significant supplier quality problems Ensure efficiency of corrective / preventive actionsDrive effective cost recovery from suppliers for Cost of Poor quality (Supplier Accountability Process)Closely monitor supplier performance to drive defect reduction, corrective action closure, and other metrics Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance and driving improvement plans where needed to improve Non Conformance Records and PPM performanceMentor/coach key suppliers to achieve industrial standards of excellence:Lead improvement projects associated with assigned suppliers Closely monitor supplier performance to plan and work with the suppliers to manage any required recovery plans, corrective actions and supplier recovery for the cost of poor qualityBe responsible for driving quality for assigned suppliers, improving quality performance via Quality Plan implementationAccelerate improvements in supplier quality and deliver valueProvide technical support and guidance to assure product quality and conformanceBuild expertise to drive long term improvement; resulting in significant quality business impact; improvement in processes and standards, supplier capability development, ensuring sustainable improvementShop support supplier failures and drive to a solution by actively involve the supplier to drive preventive and corrective actions.Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, or Engineering role Ability to travel to suppliers as needed for audits and to address quality issues, approximately 30-50% of time Desired Characteristics Experience in a Supplier Quality role Experience manufacturing, remanufacturing, or servicing industrial and/or transportation equipmentExperience with castings, fabrications, extrusions, forgings, precision machining, electronics, or engineered systems Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings and specifications Strong customer focus Experience with PPAP/APQP or similar part qualification processes Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement Knowledge of ISO, IRIS, or other certifying bodies' standards, quality procedures, and audit techniques Statistically literate and familiar with Six Sigma quality concepts and tools Ability to analyze problems and identify root causes Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Ability to influence others and lead cross-functional teams Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.Demonstrated ability to lead projects.Ability to document, plan, execute programs.
