Matching 401k and stock options are also included.Responsibilities:Evaluated and approve simple service orders requiring minimal engineering to provisionLearn Cogent network architecture and various types of optical transport equipmentPrepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and Statement of Work (SOW) for simple network augmentation projects, based on high-level outline from Director or Senior EngineersCreate and update engineering drawings, maps, and databasesAssist with various network engineering-related activities as neededExpected to grow and take on additional and more advanced network planning tasks within two yearsThe position will be located at our Washington, DC headquarters location and will report to the Director, North American Network Planning.Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Engineering or PhysicsExcellent verbal communication and documentation skillsGood interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with others on a teamSuperior skills in Microsoft Office tools, including Access, Excel, and VisioAbility to multitask and prioritize assignments as well as high levels of organizational skillsAbility and willingness to learn, and a positive can-do attitude*NOTE: This is NOT an IT, Network Operations or IP Engineering positionCogent Communications is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
