The Accounting Manager will work with the corporate accounting team, the Compass Finance team and directly with the KVS CEO. This position will be primarily responsible for managing the day to day aspects of title and escrow accounts, including handling deposits and remittances to underwriters and other parties, verifying revenue recognition as per US GAAP, investigating account discrepancies, reconciling accounts and managing the related customer service aspects. Additionally, the individual will help build processes around title and escrow to improve efficiency and internal controls within the function. Other responsibilities include coordinating with the corporate accounting team regarding month-end close and connecting with the financial planning and analysis team on monthly reporting. The ideal candidate is someone who loves challenging opportunities and thrives in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines on a consistent basis.At KVS You WillResponsible for the daily maintenance of title and escrow activities, including funds management (incoming and outgoing), resolution of account discrepancies as well as account reconciliations Provide excellent customer service by proactively managing issue resolution and account discrepancies by collaborating with the internal teams, with underwriters, as well as with escrow and title officers Oversee and own the daily reconciliation of funds received in the trust accounts Maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations Own the month-end close process in accordance with US GAAP and the corporate close calendar Collaborate with the corporate accounting team on the monthly analytics package (balance sheet and income statement) Work closely with the Compass finance team on monthly reporting, budgeting, and annual forecast updates Support the financial planning and analysis team as well as department heads and regional managers in understanding activity booked for the month Assist with building and maintaining a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over title and escrow activities Ensure proper controls are operating effectively and collaborate with the accounting team on improvements Drive process improvement for title and escrow procedures across various markets Manage and coach a team with a strong focus on team development Assist in the preparation of US GAAP financial statements and related disclosures Coordinate with external auditors regarding the financial audit as well as controls testingCoordinate underwriter audits related to the trust accounts Coordinate state audits, as applicable Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned What We're Looking ForEducation/ExperienceBachelor's Degree required, preferably in Accounting CPA required6 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with BIG 4 experience (preferred) 3+ years of title and escrow experience desired, not requiredExperience working in a public company, preferred Knowledge and Targeted CompetenciesCombination of private industry and public accounting experience Advanced accounting knowledge (US GAAP) coupled with exceptional planning and organization skills Prior experience in designing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures in a SOX environment Basic knowledge of residential real estate, preferred Strong attention to details and project management skills Ability to multi-task and handle several deadlines simultaneously Advanced excel skills, required Experience with NetSuite, a plusDo your best work, be your authentic selfAt Compass, we believe that everyone deserves to find their place in the world - a place where they feel like they belong, where they can be their authentic selves, where they can thrive.
