Associate Director of UNIV Courses and Programs

The George Mason University Office of Undergraduate Education invites applications for an Associate Director of UNIV Courses and Programs. About the Position: The George Mason University Office of Undergraduate Education seeks an Associate Director of UNIV Courses and Programs who has a passion for guiding students as they navigate their transition to college, engage and develop throughout their undergraduate years, and prepare for life after graduation. The body of courses offered within this program include new student transition, academic success, career education, student leadership, well-being, scholarly research, and more.

Responsibilities: The Associate Director of UNIV Courses and Programs will report to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Education and works collaboratively with the UNIV team of both professional and graduate student staff. This position is a full-time position. This position will be responsible for: * Developing an overall UNIV program with the courses and co-curricular programs already offered, as well as exploring new offerings to address the needs of campus partners and students; * Overseeing the administration of Peer Advisors and faculty positions for all UNIV courses; * Designing student learning outcomes for the UNIV program, themed bands of learning, and/or individual courses such as UNIV 100; * Assessing the UNIV courses against pre-determined outcomes to ensure learning outcomes are met, and to show effectiveness of the program; * Designing training materials, syllabi, and course materials for UNIV 100 course; * Collaborating with partners across the university engaged in programming for first-year and new transfer students; * Overseeing responsibility for adhering to all university protocols, procedures, and regulations as related to academic courses for the overall program.

Required Qualifications: The incumbent will have demonstrated the ability to work in a team environment and conveyed an understanding of the vision of first-year transition programs and peer learning. The ideal candidate would have: * A Master's degree in any discipline; * 3-5 years of experience with educational programming and/or student leadership development; * Previous experience in supervising graduate and/or undergraduate students; * Previous experience with student success or academic programs (e.g. first-year experience programs, academic advising, living learning communities, etc.); * Demonstrated experience with curriculum development and/or program assessment.

Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of Mason's undergraduate curriculum; * At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience working with student success or academic programs (e.g. first-year experience programs, academic advising, living learning communities, etc.); * Experience with using social media to promote programs and events to undergraduate students; * 3 or more years of supervisory experience with professional staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
