The George Mason University Center of Excellence in C4I & Cyber Center (C4I & Cyber Center), within the Volgenau School of Engineering, invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor. About the Position: The Research Assistant Professor position will conduct research that investigates the applicability of a combination of models using highly expressive probabilistic ontology languages such as PR-OWL and advanced simulation techniques to address the problem of human cognition bottlenecks in highly dynamic operations. Among the main topics is the aggregation of heterogeneous data from cybersecurity experiments using probabilistic ontologies, and the automated establishment of multi-domain adaptive kill-chains in military operations.

Responsibilities: The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team developing novel techniques for heterogeneous data fusion and will be responsible for:

* Developing first-order probabilistic reasoning models using the PR-OWL language and the UnBBayes-MEBN probabilistic graphical framework; * Developing advanced algorithms for probabilistic inference in multi-entity Bayesian Networks using Java, Python, and R; * Designing experiments, conducting heterogeneous data fusion research and drafting manuscripts, revisions and publications; * Participating in advanced research on explainable AI methodologies, developing methods and pursuing publication of research results in peer-reviewed venues within the associated areas.

Required Qualifications: * Candidates must have earned a Doctorate in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field to apply for this position; * Candidates must possess, have experience on, and be able to demonstrate strong skills in the Java programming language; * Candidates must possess experience in developing AI algorithms, preferably Bayesian Networks; * Candidates must have experience in software development.

Preferred Qualifications: * Have publications in academic, peer-reviewed venues in the areas of AI, Computer Science, and/or closely related fields; * Experience in developing software using DevOps tools such as JIRA and Confluence; * Experience in developing advanced algorithms for probabilistic inference in multi-entity Bayesian Networks; * Have expertise in ontologies and/or probabilistic ontologies (PR-OWL); * Experience in developing within the UnBBayes Graphical Probabilistic Framework.
