Responsibilities

Perform security guard duties to enforce the security regulations of the installation. Control installation access by verifying identification by means such as identification cards, badges, and automated records. Issue visitor passes to allow installation access. Inspects containers, personal property, documents on private, commercial and governmental vehicles. Exercise tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties. Assist Department of the Army Civilian and Military police as required by rerouting traffic, obtaining facts, taking statements, etc.

Conditions of Employment

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • You will be held to the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program in accordance with AR 190-56.
  • Shift work is required. Hours of work include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Overtime may be required as directed.
  • Rotating shifts are required.
  • You must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Incumbent must pass pre-employment and annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training.
  • Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment.
  • Incumbent may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton
  • Incumbent must pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • The incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid, state-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
  • Incumbent is required to wear a uniform.
  • A pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination are required.
  • Business travel up to 10%.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization protecting property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; and 2) performing vehicle searches confiscating unauthorized items; and 3) verifying identification and controlling access to premises. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education

  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 & DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.

  • Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
