The team of about 700 associates works in a fast-paced, collaborative, iterative environment to deliver software. We have a fun, startup culture and we work hard to reuse, modernize, and simplify our Tech Stack while protecting our clients and building applications that work seamlessly together.As Director of Software Engineering you will lead teams in building out a central Identity & Access Management (IAM) platform for enabling an integrated experience across our B2B Payments and Banking systems and platforms. This requires a seasoned leader who can draw from hands-on software engineering experience with the ability to quickly learn and collaborate with Product, Design, Architecture and Agile Delivery to advance a well managed engineering focus for reliable software delivery while establishing a pragmatic vision and technical roadmap for abstracting core IAM capabilities out of existing siloed B2B Payment and Banking systems.A' The Director of Software Engineering will bring experience in building secure, scalable software using an agile approach while creating an inclusive, collaborative culture that is focused on achieving results through incremental, iterative build out of pragmatic software solutions.A' A' Key outcomes will be abstracting and externalizing core user profile, entitlements and authentication capabilities and services from our heritage, siloed platforms to create new authentication, authorization, user management and single sign-on capabilities in an centralized IAM platform to enable our strategic B2B Integrated Payables and Identity initiatives.Our Directors Are:A' Strong in software engineering principles, patterns and practices for designing,A' building and instrumenting scalable and resilient systemsStrong people leaders with the ability to coach, mentor and serve as an effective manager of managers -A' inspiring, empowering, and growing engineersA' Experienced building end-to-end modular, secure and scalable applications and experiencesA' A' Experienced establishing practices that institutionalize engineering discipline and CICD rigor that enable teams to develop high quality, reliable software delivered through dependable and repeatable release processesA' You will:Partner with Product, Design, Architecture leads in designing and decomposing identity and access management capabilities, services and experiencesTake ownership of raising the technology stability and availability of the existing authentication systems and infrastructureLead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused engineers and delivery leadersMentor and guide the professional and technical development of associates in your team.Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities, acceptance and success criteria, test scenarios and test strategiesA' Continuously improve software engineering and software delivery practicesWork within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologiesLead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutionsBring a passion to stay on top of tech and industry trends in IAM, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor members of the engineering communityEncourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, inclusion and diversityWork across to improve the velocity of your and other teamsLead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environmentsDecompose existing monolithic applications into modular capabilities and microservicesA' Manage vendor and internal partner engagements for continuity, maintenance and security of subscribed and/or adopted software and servicesA' Collaborate across a variety of application and technology areas -A' Portal, Banking, Payables, Receivables and Credit.A' A' Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's DegreeAt least 7 years of experience in software development using Java, Spring, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Python, or SQLA' A' At least 5 years of experience in people managementA' At least 3 years of experience with cloud technology (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)At least 3 years of experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery of softwareAt least 3 years of experience building Identity and Access Management platformsPreferred Qualifications:Master's Degree in Computer Science or Master's Degree in Software Engineering10+ years of experience in software development5+ years of experience in Agile practices3+ years of experience with NIST standardsCapital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.
