Summary: Assists the Wellness Director in directing the nursing department to maintain RUI standards of care. Communicates with the medical community on residents' behalf. Reports to and supervised by the Wellness Director .:Functions:POLICY/PROCEDURES/ADMINISTRATION:* Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position, the department, and the personnel. * Assists the Wellness Director with hiring, training and all other supervisory responsibilities of the nursing staff. * Assists the Wellness Director with the implementation of the wellness program for residents. * Accepts physicians orders, transcribes and follows through to insure they are carried out. * Reviews physicians orders and medication administration form s to insure they are current and accurate. * Orders supplies and maintains expenses within budget limits. * Assists the Wellness Director with preparing resident charges. * Recommends areas of improvement according to acceptable nursing practices and al l county, city, state and federal regulations. * Documents and reports all resident and family concerns to the Wellness Director . * Attends a minimum of 12 hours of annual training on topics relevant to the communitys resident population. * Attends staff meetings as required. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Maintains knowledge of Department of Social Services Standards and Regulations. RESIDENTS:* Assists the Wellness Director with pre -screening and assessments of residents prior to move - in, within 24 hours of move -in and annually throughout the resident's stay or as a resident's condition changes. * Assists the Wellness Director in developing Individual Service Plans for residents . * Maintains resident files in an orderly manner and documents all pertinent information regarding residents. * Assists the Wellness Director in following up on resident and family complaints. * Assists the Wellness Director in following up on residents with health problems, or other concerns and issues. * Maintains contact with residents when they are in the hospital or other facilities on a temporary basis and keeps abreast of their condition through the communities medical staff.* Administers medication and special treatments as necessary. * Provides hands on care to residents as needed. * Assists with planning and implementing special activities for assisted living residents and residents with special needs and insures follow through by the nursing staff. STAFF:* Assists Wellness Director in interviewing and hiring of staff. * Assists in orientation and training of nursing staff. * Assists in making assignments for CNAs and medications aides. * Grants time off from duties and reassigns work, if needed. * Supervises activities of nursing staff. * Provides coaching, counseling and corrective action for nursing staff in coordination with the Wellness Director . * Provides input for annual performance evaluations of nursing staff. * May conduct training sessions for other staff members as required. * Assists Wellness Director in oversight and discipline of nursing staff. REQUIREMENTS:* COVID-19 vaccination required for employment. Community provides vaccine for those not vaccinated.* Must have a current license by the Virginia Board of Nursing to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. * Must complete the continued competency requirements for renewal of an active license according to the Virginia Board of Nursing and maintain original documentation of completion. * Must have three years nursing experience, preferably in long- term care management. * Must have comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles and practices and ability to apply principles of management and human relations. * Must be available for on -call, nights, weekends and emergencies. * Must be able to walk and stand for an extended period. * Must be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally and exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. * Must be CPR certified. * Must be in designated uniform during working hours. * Must have strong customer service skills.
