ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

To be a successful Paralegal (Service Manager), the candidate will need to quickly learn a wealth of institutional knowledge regarding service of process and then have the ability to build upon it as we grow and evolve. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing the service process, delegating tasks to multiple legal assistants, handling escalations/issues, working with accounting for billing and invoicing, and searching for prospective process servers to build our server network. The position will report to the Managing Attorney, but have a dotted line to the Assistant General Counsel.

It would help if you were incredibly well-organized, detail-oriented, and have good writing and people skills. Please note that this job requires you to take on all administrative tasks as needed. Management Responsibilities
  • Train new legal assistants on standard service practices, including skip-tracing, sending summons, and creating requests for service.
  • Delegate tasks to legal assistants, in accordance with the legal teams overall goals for that particular week.
  • Consult with new process servers on a nationwide basis to communicate the standards of our courts, and establish a strong understanding of our service expectations.
  • Manage a portfolio of process servers, including their contact information, jurisdiction, pricing, and standard business practices.
  • Advise process servers on Rapids service requirements on a case-by-case basis, with special attention to legal standards for service.
  • Be an escalation point for internal and external service issues, including legal assistant and process server questions and clarifications.

Billing & Accounting Responsibilities
  • Coordinate directly with the Accounts Payable team at Rapid Finance to ensure invoices from process servers are promptly processed and paid after a completed service request.
  • Negotiate pricing with potential new process servers in regard to the services they can provide to the Rapid Legal team.
  • Communicate with the Accounts Payable team regarding the status of payment for invoices per process servers requests.
  • Monitor and record the status of all invoices, pricing, and outcomes of service.

Legal Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with members of the legal and collections team to serve Defendants, based on the legal standards of the courts in various states (MD, SD, UT, FL).
  • Draft Motions for Alternate Service with special attention to attorney feedback and the standards of the various courts.
  • Collaborate with members of the legal team to recommend best practices for service, with special attention to pre-trial dates and court proceedings.


SUCCESSFUL PARALEGAL CANDIDATES HAVE:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • High emotional IQ- very strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively across all levels within the organization- from C-Level to team members, while being sensitive to business needs.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence others into action and to think creatively about solutions.
  • Experience documenting business requirements and processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, have "go-getter" mentality, and ability to independently problem-solve and make decisions.
