Summary

The AmeriCorps Seniors Training and Knowledge Management Specialist will create, implement, and administer trainings and technical assistance tools needed to support AmeriCorps Seniors internal and external audiences as they implement the AmeriCorps Seniors American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding. This includes identifying, documenting best practices, frequently asked questions, and other content that can be utilized to support program initiatives.

Responsibilities

Training:

Develops and/or revises current AmeriCorps Seniors training and technical assistance products and courses to meet the needs of ARP internal and external partners. Analyzes existing on-line education resources and recommends new or revised forums or content.
Identifies resources needs to support training and technical activities to ensure ARP goals are achieved.

Conducts virtual training for external audiences, using remote technology.

Measures the effectiveness of training programs including administrative policies and procedures, curricula, instructional methods and techniques. Makes recommendations to adjust or enhance training content, delivery, or methodology based on program evaluations.

Collaborates with training staff in other departments to identify existing contracts with similar statements of work, ensure cost effectiveness, and avoid duplication of efforts when contracting for educational services.

Participates on a cross-functional team to plan, develop, and deliver the annual AmeriCorps Seniors Conference and, potentially other event.

Knowledge Management:

Collects, manages, and analyzes information related to the training and technical support provided to AmeriCorps Seniors grantees and standardize content.

Leverages collaborative tools and applications (e.g. SharePoint) to maintain an inventory of content and enhance information management workflow and communications within AmeriCorps Seniors and the Office of Regional Operations as it relates to ARP.

Develop a user-friendly record retention system for the longevity of information related to the ARP.

Performs other duties as assigned.

THIS POSITION HAS A BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT.

EDUCTION REQUIREMENT
1) An undergraduate degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position being filled.
Or
2) A combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional coursework that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4 year course of study described above.
College/University transcripts must be provided to verify the Basic Educational Requirement of this position.

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the upper range of the NY-02 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to the upper range GS-09 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

Specialized experience includes:
  • Developing and implementing Grantee guidance.
  • Supporting managers in staffing and leading working groups including developing work group assignments, preparing briefings and planning documents, or coordinating tasks and assignments;
  • Working with data and systems teams to help ensure that program requirements are represented in data systems design and operation;
  • Providing input into formulating training, curriculum planning, and in reviewing instructional programs to assure fulfillment of established goals and objectives.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.
