Summary

The Justice Management Division, Finance Staff (FS), formulates and establishes Department-wide
accounting policies, procedures, and financial systems to support planning, programming, budgeting,
accounting and other financial management activities.

Responsibilities

  • You will manage the formulation and justification of the budget for an entire agency or major component.
  • You will review, analyze, revise, and recommend approval, disapproval, or modification of budget requests and justifications,
  • You will perform budget execution work involving the most difficult fund control activities including analyzing and evaluating the effects of program plans and budget issues
  • You will monitor and report on the rate of expenditure of funds.

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or trial period.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of BUDGET ANALYST, (GS-0560-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to.

There is no positive education requirements for this series and grade.

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, experience includes:
1. Overseeing and administering the formulation and justification of the budget for an agency;
2. Analyzing and reviewing budget request and recommending approval or disapproval; and
3. Conducting complex financial data analysis using various methods to determine impact of program initiatives on budget plans.
