Summary

This announcement is for TEMPORARY, INTERMITTENT positions NTE 1 yr/1040 hrs located in the Bureau of Administration, Office of Logistics Management/Logistics Operations, Transportation & Travel Management Division. The office provides policy, oversight, professional and technical guidance and support on transportation, travel and secure logistics issues and practices. The incumbent is responsible for evaluating, studying and recommending packaging/shipping methods in the U.S./overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Surveys packaging operations abroad, private residences, and contractors' warehouses to ensure that containers and crates are being fabricated in accordance with applicable specifications or permissible weights; ensures that contents are secure.
  • Monitors contractors to ensure that crates and packing vans are of the proper cube and weight to properly protect the contents and to save additional costs to the U.S. Government.
  • Inspects storage warehouses and storage lots to ensure that environmental conditions are appropriate to protect stored effects; surveys damaged shipments and uses photographs to support an investigation if subjected to a legal dispute.
  • Reviews established packaging policies and procedures to ensure uniformity in operations and consistency in interpretation and application; redefines policy and regulations involving packaging specifications as needed to adapt to changes.
  • Prepares statistical analyses and reports of all inspections performed to ensure objectives are achieved.

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Qualified candidates are assigned a score between 70 and 100. Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) candidates must be rated "Well Qualified" for the position and earn a score of at least 85 (when applicants are rated in a range of 70 to 100) to receive consideration for special priority.
