Description Engineering Technician (RANGE-21-0611-W): Bowhead is seeking an Engineering Technician will set up, breakdown, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair test equipment and cabling used to acquire data for explosive testing at NSWC Dahlgren Potomac River Test Range. Other duties will require general knowledge and proficiency with computer networks, internet protocol, collecting and analyzing amassed data; working with hand tools and shop equipment; building test fixtures for equipment; monitoring and maintaining consumable stock. Specifically the Engineering Technician will serve as an Instrumentation Technician to: Perform assignments that are non-routine and complex to involve general knowledge for operation of radars, high-speed cameras, sound meters and data acquisition systems. Work with basic hand tools including crimpers, wire strippers, soldering irons, drills and other tools to assist with assembly and repairs to instrument related cabling and other tasks. Capable of reviewing test plans and offer technical input for conflicts, setup and system improvements. Understand necessity for attention to detail for test plan requirements, setup, checkouts for proof of functionality and importance of data collection. Provide technical support to engineers for data processing. Process data points for engineers to develop required reporting. Demonstrate the ability to read blueprints, interpret schematics and read precision tools and recording devices. Effectively communicate both orally and in writing to other technicians and engineers. Accomplish other tasks as assigned. Must be able to multitask and be willing to cross train within the Instrumentation Technician capabilities. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent or trade school and minimum of 3 years work or military experience in electronics. Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and Outlook) General knowledge of software based instrumentation (Computer Network/Internet Protocol). The ability to work in a team environment and exhibit interpersonal skills and communication. Must be able to multitask and be willing to cross train within the Instrumentation Technician capabilities. SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level, though candidates with an active Secret are highly sought. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
