We are seeking a Vice President of Platform Engineering who is responsible for Personnel Management, Platform Engineering Execution, Technical Leadership, and Budget for our DevOps, Site Reliability, Cloud, and Developer Tooling teams. The VP of Platform Engineering ensures these teams effectively address internal tools and the three key areas of Company's platform: Members, Organizations, and Data Sources. This person will work closely with the VP of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer. The VP of Platform Engineering enforces Company's culture and ensures alignment between employee behavior and promotions, compensation increases, and recognition. This person is charged with building and leading a world-class team capable of superb execution at scale within each area of responsibility. Personnel Management Manages DevOps, Site Reliability, Cloud Engineering, and Developer Tooling personnel Identities key skills and capabilities needed to assess team strengths and weaknesses Partners with HR to recruit and retain top-tier talent Organizes the Platform Engineering department and teams to support Company's product suite Develops managers to increase productivity Communicates effectively up, down, and laterally to ensure alignment of work Provides purpose, motivation, and direction to members of the Platform Engineering team Platform Engineering Execution Creates a framework to accurately size and estimate deliverables to arrive at internal & external delivery commitments Organizes teams and resources to deliver on technical roadmaps Enables "rapid response force" surge capacity to address time-sensitive needs without compromising the roadmap Develops a program plan that incorporates interdependencies between functional areas Establishes playbooks to drive process and consistent outcomes for repeated tasks Proactively mitigates risk by identifying and controlling internal and external risk factors Supervises work to continuously iterate and improve Conducts effective After Action Reviews to instill effective team learning habits Technical Leadership Develops the Platform Engineering strategy with the VP of Engineering and CTO Builds and maintains the Platform Engineering technical roadmap Defines and oversees consistent adoption of software development tooling and instrumentation standards across the Engineering team Monitors and ensures performance, availability and reliability of internal platforms supporting Company products in order to meet & exceed SLAs Budget Works with the Chief Financial Officer to develop a bottoms up budget Aligns compensation and incentives with desired behaviors Responsible for headcount, consulting, prototyping, software, equipment, travel and entertainment, and professional development costs for the Platform Engineering team
