Position Description: If you love high profile and challenging programing projects supporting the US Navy- Serco has a great opportunity for you!Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.This Topside Engineer will be on a dynamic team to apply knowledge of applicable principles for the integration of new/upgraded C4I and warfare systems on new combatant construction to meet an Integrated Topside Design environment at our Alexandria, Virginia location.Knowledge and experience in the functional disciplines for the placement/application of primary communication or warfare system are required for this position, such as Command and Control, Communications, Radar, EW Sensors, Missile and Gun Weapon Systems.In this role, you will:Analyze options to optimize the topside design and ensure electromagnetic and warfighting compatibility is maintained with the addition of new or upgraded systems by applying appropriate commercial/ military specifications, standards, and instructions.Be knowledgeable of ship missions, sensor and weapon system performance specifications and requirements; provide guidance to installation activities for successful ship installation/integration; develop solutions to technical issues, review change proposals and waiver requests.Participate in liaison with the ship design manager, ship program leads, shipbuilders, other customers, and vendors by attending technical evaluations, design reviews and integrated process team meetings.Develop final engineering reports and presentations that detail the results of the engineering studies and present results at customer meetings and working groups.Perform ship surveys to determine or verify installation requirements and parameters.Will have direct customer daily interface and communication while working on site. Qualifications: Education & Work ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will have:An Active US DoD Issued Secret Clearance is required at time of application.BSEE Engineering Degree or a related technical discipline.5 to 7 years work experience.Ship Design program support experience.Strong communication and analytical skills required.Additional desired experience and skills:Work experience may include: Integrated Topside Design, Weapon Effects, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) and the associated military specifications/standards, antenna design/installation, Hazard of Electromagnetic Radiation to Fuel, Ordnance, or Personnel (HERF/O/P), naval radar systems, communication systems, EW systems, EM field measurements.
