The Network Subject Matter Expert (SME) designs, plans, supports, and evaluates complex existing network systems and make recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels. This resource will provide highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture. Also provides and develops technical standards and interface applications; identifies and evaluates new products; provide solutions for network problems. Works with other project team members to seamlessly deliver reliable, consistent systems to the customer, and must be a proven team contributor. Interfaces with internal/external customers and vendors to determine system needs. Plans and incorporates how new network resources and applications will exist and operate on an enterprise VoIP network. Responsibilities: Essential FunctionsDesigns, installs, configures, monitors, maintains network, telecommunications, and/or systems hardware/software; analyzes hardware/software failures, connectivity, and monitoring systems/networks to ensure availability to all usersPerforms necessary network maintenance, telecommunications, and/or systems availability; and develops/implements information security policiesDesigns system architecture templates that will serve as the basis for most customer installations, requiring only minor adjustments (user counts, physical requirements, etc.) to meet the needs of those locationsDesigns, develops and implements the technical architecture and physical design of the networkAnalyzes existing voice and data networks and recommends solutionsInstalls and configures voice gateways as part of the IP telephony systemMaintains enterprise technical infrastructure resourcesDesigns, installs, configures, monitors, and maintains network systemsEnsures availability by performing necessary maintenance of medium to large-sized networks, telecommunications, or systems availabilityDevelops and implements information security policiesMaintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capabilityAdditional Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorks at customer site in Washington DC metropolitan area Qualifications: Required QualificationsApplied knowledge of the systems development life cycle, including requirements analysis, documentation development, control gates, and system verificationMinimum 5 years of related experience in requirements analysis, project planning, and resource management, strong analytical and technical skills related to IT projects to assist in implementing project objectives and solutionsAt least (10) years of experience on VOIP projectsBS/BA or equivalent experience with telecommunications servicesMust be able to design detailed equipment rack elevations showing component level detail, and all associated connectivity using Visio or similar toolMust be comfortable interacting will customer representatives of various backgrounds and authorityDoD Top Secret Security Clearance requiredDesired/Preferred QualificationsCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) CertificationAvaya Certification Additional Information: Work EnvironmentAbility to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment.
