The UC Subject Matter Expert (SME) will have overall responsibility for the design and integrity of the multi-vendor enterprise UC solution (Avaya and Cisco cores) based on communications industry standards utilizing Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). To include the design, implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, daily operation and upgrading of core Avaya Aura Products including: System Manager, Session Manager, Communications Manager, Media Server, Voice Gateways, SIP trunking, and SIP endpoints. This role should be experienced in performing installations and upgrades of the Avaya suite of products and have a thorough expertise and understanding of Voice/VoIP Devices and their configurations, including but not limited to PBXs, switches, routers, voicemail, servers and handsets. Responsibilities: Essential FunctionsAnalyzes and translates business requirements and user needs into engineering, design, and technical specifications to support telecommunications infrastructureProvides expert support for security posturing and configuration of the voice systemsIterates and improves the existing network and telephony CoreDesigns and improves interfaces with enterprise services (network management, directory services, security incident and event management services, life-safety technology integration, etc.)Improves interfaces for future unified communications enhancementsDefines requirements supporting unified communications enhancements and agency enterprise servicesProvides Voice/VoIP design, architecture, and engineering supportProvides expert support for security posturing and configuration of the voice systemsPossesses experience in designing phone and network systems that comply with Enterprise infrastructure standardsEnsures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations which may impact product performanceAdditional Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorks at customer site in Washington DC metropolitan area Qualifications: Required QualificationsAbility to comfortably interact with peers and customer representatives of all responsibility levels to perform required job functionsAbility to work under pressure, handle a variety of work assignments simultaneously, prioritize work and be held fully responsible for decisionsAbility to analyze information, make recommendations, and develop reports and presentations.Active participation in design and code reviewsAt least (10) years of experience on VOIP projectsAt least 5 years designing and delivering VoIP projects using the Avaya suite of supporting hardware and applicationsBS/BA or equivalent experience with telecommunications servicesAvaya Certifications or Credentials for Aura platformsDoD Top Secret Security ClearanceDesired/Preferred QualificationsAdvanced Avaya or Cisco UC certification Additional Information: Work EnvironmentAbility to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment.
