Add File This position will support the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and coordinate with the senior leadership team to maximize the effective management of the office of the President/CEO. The Chief of Staff will balance a mix of strategic and programmatic responsibilities and will work closely with leadership to coordinate, align, and build cohesion across the organization and to advance the organization's priorities. The Chief of Staff will act as a key communicator linking the leadership with the broader organization. The chief of staff also leads specific initiatives at the direction of the President/CEO. The Chief of Staff will be based in CHA's Washington, DC office. Some travel is required (approximately 25%). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Manage the Office of the President/CEO, ensuring effective operations and timely response daily. Work with the President/CEO on developing agendas and preparing materials for President's Advisory Council (PAC) meetings, PAC retreats, and other management and committee discussions. Lead/facilitate/manage PAC meetings and ensure information flow among PAC. Direct CHA's media relations activities in DC market including strategic outreach to reporters and rapid response when current events call for comment and input. Provide the President/CEO with background information needed to prepare for business travel, media interviews, press events, presentations, and other public appearances. Draft and organize strategic communications on behalf of President/CEO including staff communications, letters, reports, presentations, videos, editorials, and articles; and brief President/CEO for media interviews and press conferences. Assist senior leadership in the development and execution of CHA's strategic plan. Assist with the development and communication of key strategic initiatives as directed by the President/CEO. Lead the planning and implementation of content and logistics for the annual CHA Joint Committee membership meeting. Work with the President/CEO, legal counsel, and PAC to plan Board meetings and develop appropriate presentations and facilitation sessions at those Board meetings. Represent CHA on various coalitions and manage coalition work, including the development of resources and messaging strategies. Assist the President/CEO with member relations strategies and activities including solicitation of input for CHA initiatives and meetings. Represent the President/CEO at meetings and events as appropriate. Conduct research and monitor policy developments at the direction of the President. She/he will maintain a strong knowledge base regarding the work and purpose of CHA. Assist with CHA internal diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Lead the planning and implementation of content and logistics for the annual CHA All Staff Retreat. Facilitate monthly All-Staff meetings. Experience: Minimum of 5 years progressive management experience and relevant and progressively responsible professional experience in communications and or public relations in health-related field. Five years' experience as Chief of Staff or Special Assistant to the President preferred. Skills, Knowledge, and Ability: Ability to think strategically, anticipating future consequences and trends. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate and maintain confidentiality. Effective listener. Strong interpersonal skills exhibiting professionalism and diplomacy with internal and external customers at all levels, including Board of Trustees. Excellent time and project management skills with ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and critical thinking ability necessary to evaluate data and form meaningful conclusions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgement. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills. Must exhibit high ethical standards. NOTES: Additional Salary Information: The beginning pay will be determined by experience for the position, within the pay grade structure for the position, which is set between $189,500 - $230,000.
