This position is also responsible for supervising and developing staff accountant(s) both technically and professionally and ensuring that all information used to create financial reports is technically accurate, complete, and timely. He/she will work with leaders from other departments to streamline and improve workflows, communication, and efficiency between departments.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Review and analyze all general ledger account reconciliations and details for technical accuracy and completeness that are prepared by the staff accountants - all in accordance with monthly close schedule. Ensure that the accounting treatment for all general ledger account items and journal entries are in accordance with company policy and GAAP.Participates in month-end close by posting journal entries, reconciliation of accounts and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations of staff.Reconcile payroll and operating bank accounts including accounts with foreign currency.Educate and develop staff accountants on technical and professional issues; manage the staff accountants on a daily basis and hold them accountable and responsible for their assigned tasks through goal setting and deadlines.Identify areas for improvement in efficiency within the department.Preparation of supporting documentation and critical information for the external auditors, the tax team, and compliance teams.Work closely with other departments - specifically payroll, financial reporting, tax, and accounts payable to ensure all transactions are properly accounted for and outstanding items are adequately resolved in a timely manner.
