This position is also responsible for supervising and developing staff accountant(s) both technically and professionally and ensuring that all information used to create financial reports is technically accurate, complete, and timely. He/she will work with leaders from other departments to streamline and improve workflows, communication, and efficiency between departments.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Review and analyze all general ledger account reconciliations and details for technical accuracy and completeness that are prepared by the staff accountants - all in accordance with monthly close schedule. Ensure that the accounting treatment for all general ledger account items and journal entries are in accordance with company policy and GAAP.Participates in month-end close by posting journal entries, reconciliation of accounts and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations of staff.Reconcile payroll and operating bank accounts including accounts with foreign currency.Educate and develop staff accountants on technical and professional issues; manage the staff accountants on a daily basis and hold them accountable and responsible for their assigned tasks through goal setting and deadlines.Identify areas for improvement in efficiency within the department.Preparation of supporting documentation and critical information for the external auditors, the tax team, and compliance teams.Work closely with other departments - specifically payroll, financial reporting, tax, and accounts payable to ensure all transactions are properly accounted for and outstanding items are adequately resolved in a timely manner. Assistance with preparing monthly trended balance sheet and reporting on variances.QualificationsMinimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting2+ years supervisory experience or demonstrated ability thereof4+ years general ledger experience - including workpaper preparation, month-end close responsibilities, and bank reconciliationPublic accounting / auditing experience a plusExperience with PeopleSoft nVision is a plusCPA is a plus but not requiredRequisite Abilities and/or Skills:Strong analytical ability with a focus on detail is an absolute must.Must be able to work with other departments and all levels of employees with a customer service mentality and approach - excellent communication and interpersonal skills are keyAbility to manage multiple tasks and people simultaneouslyCapacity to view the company, and our internal process at a detailed level.Capable of communicating with all levels of the organization in a professional mannerProven ability to train, develop, and motivate staff team membersMust be able to adhere to strict deadlines and schedulesAdditional InformationAGS is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer (M/F/Disability/Veterans).
