Instructional Technician I - ScienceCarroll Community College has a full-time, 12-month position available as an Instructional Technician I - Science.JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for providing technical laboratory assistance to science faculty including but not limited to setting up labs, explaining lab procedures to instructors, dismantling labs, and troubleshooting equipment. It reports to the Division Chair, Sciences.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:A' A' A' A' A' A' Sets up and dismantles instructional laboratory exercises for both students and instructors following safety guidelines. This is applicable to all lab courses.Maintains and cleans lab facilities and equipment.Communicates with faculty to ensure smooth operation of laboratories.Communicates daily with Lab Manager about concerns and issues that may arise.Maintains inventories of chemicals and equipment and communicates supply needs to the Lab Manager; assures chemicals and supplies are appropriately stored and secured following proper safety/storage guidelines.Maintains collection of bacterial stock cultures.Updates MSDS notebooks as needed.Generates maintenance work orders for the science areas of the building.Collects and organizes lab schedules from all science instructors.Tracks laboratory space usage.Oversees work performed by temporary and student employees.Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:Associate"s degree in a science-related subject with at least 20 credits in lab courses. At least two years of related laboratory work experience.Knowledge of technical lab procedures, analytical techniques, terminology, and awareness of biological and chemical safety protocols.A' Must be positive, cooperative, and supportive.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The work is physically active on a medium level. It involves dealing with chemicals or biological elements as well as laboratory equipment. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:Hear/talk/communicate A cents € " Must be able to exchange information and communicateVisual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundingsMental acuity A cents € " Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matterRepetitive motion (ie keyboarding)Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to anotherWORK ENVIRONMENT:A' A' A' A' A' College campus, direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms. Use of safe workplace practices with office and lab equipment; computers for data entry and word processing; need to follow safety protocol with chemicals and biological elements both in usage and storage to avoid potential dangers; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations and observance of traffic laws when/if driving a College vehicle.EOErecblid nnxsr2kyaba2tqct6jh4rxiytvet19
